Well, my “hotel” is at Bush & Stockton, so the Powell line is only a block away from where I have to go anyway. So given that rational, it seemed easier than walking up hill all the way to the House of Nanking. And if it’s not, I’m going to need that beer, since I’ll be thirsty from the longer than necessary walk.

While it would be possible to do what you suggest, I definitely wouldn’t recommend it from an “efficiency” stand point. The walk from the hotel to the cable car location at Union Square is almost as far as the walk directly to House of Nanking. (Here’s all three mapped out in Yahoo)

I can totally understand from a “fun” point of view why you might want to take the streetcar, but in that case, I highly recommend you take it “all the way” and maybe after a few beers at Vesuvio’s.

And Robbie, you definitely get at least the first beer on me. (Maybe instead of $100 for comments, I should just offer a free drink!)

I *think* you can also take the Powell St cable car from Union Square, and then walk down Nob Hill at Jackson St, to the House of Nanking.

At least that’s the route I’m going to take. So, if I end up at Ghiradelli Square, we’ll know I got lost somplace. See ya’ll there.
