You might want to try Paint.net. I've heard good things about it and the price is right. Although, I confess that I use Adobe Photoshop myself.

LOL, Dustin that looks a whole lot more like an ad for Anna than an ad for a house. And what is it with you guys wanting to take a picture of lights and chandeliers ;-)

LOL, that's one of the problems with "real estate wives" and "techie husbands". Once I took a nap and woke up to a "gift" of a great new website. Oh My God, was there a rule he DIDN'T break on that thing. He loved it :-) I had a lot of fast talking to do before I shut him down.

I kept saying, "you can't..." and he kept saying, "yes, I CAN, look it's easy".

I did one of those for Anna's first listing. It was a beautiful place (eventually selling for $985K) in Sunset Hill overlooking Elliot Bay. However, the day of the photo shoot the sky was overcast so I added a blue sky. In the process of adding the blue sky, I realized the house would look so much better if the neighbor's roof wasn't in it, so I got rid of that house as well... and then I figured that as long as I was photoshopping out a house, I might as well take out the fire hydrant in front of the house... I'm not sure anyone would have recognized the house based on the revised photo, but the photo sure did look nice! :)

(I can't find a copy of the photo online right now, but here is the ad we put together for the home.

By and large I use HP Image Zone for photo editing because all of my "stuff" is HP. Anyone know how I can do it there? I have some other programs my kids use, but they can be dangerous tools in the real estate business. You know, the ones where people edit out wires and real property features.

Pretty much any photo editing softward can combine multiple photos into one image. I would use photoshop to combine the pictures because (1) I have the program and (2) it is super simple. However, if you don't already have the software, photoshop would probably be the most expensive route to go! :)

Hmm... Assuming you can write acrobat files (.pdf), I can think of another simple solution:
1) Open a blank word document and insert the two photos.
2) Print this word document to a *.pdf file.
3) Open the *.pdf file in acrobat.
4) Crop out all the white space
5) Save the file as a *.jpg

Another option is to download the free Picasa software from Google. It has a feature under the create option which lets you create "photo grids". With some futz'n around, that would also do the trick.

Thanks Dustin, I didn't pick up on that. I LOVE it! It clearly answers my objection to not being able to put an interior shot in first position for a townhome or condo.

How do you do that? How do you take two photos, attach them, and create one jpeg out of them for uploading?

Ardell,

I think Robbie was commenting on the fact that the main photo on the listing is really made up of two photos combined to form one. The sneaky part is that this allows them to show both the outside and an inside view with only "one" photo.

I'm confused Robbie. That one is ACTIVE and not SOLD according to the link. Are you saying it is really SOLD and still coming through as ACTIVE as in stale info?

I haven't played with sold data, but from what I know, Galen is correct. Sold listings may only contain the first photo by rule (which by rule is an exterior shot). Now, if you have a feed, don't delete the photos for sold listings, and don't follow the rules, anything's possible.

BTW - Does this mean that this listing's split photo is breaking or bending the rules?
