Seattle Neighborhood Blogs

I spent some time tonight searching for Seattle-area neighborhood blogs. I then added the ones that are interesting and publish frequently to RCG’s sidepanel. Please let me know if I missed any that should be included!

  1. Robbie,

Thanks for your ideas… I just added Issaquah Undressed, although I’m going to wait a little bit to see which way Rebecca Kuno takes the Red Brick Blog before adding it. The Red Brick Blog is still pretty new and she’s straddling the fence on writing about “real estate issues” and “neighborhood issues”. If she goes the “neighborhood” route (RCG has obviously gone the other way!), then I’ll look to include her in the neighborhood list! Thanks again!

  3. Sorry about that vc… It was stuck in my spam filter. I just rescued your message and added your blog to the sidepanel!

BTW, I just noticed you’ve teamed up with Marlow… I’m not sure about your blogging experience, but if you’re new, then you have one of the best working with you! 🙂

  4. Great question Joe! I’d assume there are, but I can’t point you to any off the top of my head.

The way that my research worked is that every once in a while I’d hit a “motherload” (or very well organized blogroll!). If you can find one local blogger (like a Tacoma neighborhood blog), then they are often linked up with other local blogs… Technorati and Outside.in are two good places to start.

  5. Hey Dustin,

Thanks for the leads. I’ll follow-up on what you’ve given me here, and do some researching on my own, and if I find anything of interest I’ll let you know!! 🙂

  7. Robbie,

Thanks for the accolades! Much appriciated. I am stiving to make the site even better as time goes on. If you have items specific to Issaquah Highlands you would like to see discussed please let me know.

    Dustin,

Thanks for giving me something to think about. I eventually want to get very specific to a neighborhood but for now will be trying to kill two birds with one stone. I do have plans to have distinct blogs in the future, but since I am still in the educational phase of blogging, didn’t want to get in over my head.

    Thanks for the support.

    Rebecca

  8. I’m not aware of a “Redmond” blog, although I’m positive there are hundreds of people blogging each and every day in Redmond! 🙂 I’ll keep looking and am more than up for suggestions! (and thanks for the Seattle Schmeattle link!)

  9. A big hello from your neighbors accross the water!! I am blogging about Kitsap County. This includes Silverdale, Poulsbo, Port Orchard and some towns in between. Thanks for the opportunity!

  11. Randee, I’m not sure how I missed your comment… Is there a good neighborhood blog for Sammamish? I’d be happy to add it if there was!

  12. I’ll let Dustin be the judge, but that doesn’t look like a Neighborhood blog about Alderwood and Mill Creek to me. Looks like a commercial of some kind.

  13. Pavel,

Did you put the wrong link there? It looks like “Liar, Liar Pants on Fire” to call it a Mill Creek neighborhood blog. Maybe you used the wrong link.

  14. Pavel,

I’m not sure I’d go so far as Ardell in my criticism because it looks like the same seven standard posts that one might find on any number (at least a few thousand) of real estate agent blogs. If you keep going, and most agents do not, you’ll need to break out of the mold a bit in order to capture an audience. And if you want to get serious about covering urban issues in a local area, check out some of the neighborhood blogs in RCG’s sidepanel. I think you’ll find that there are a ton of topics that can inspire future posts!

    Best.

  15. Redmondblog.org is a community activist blog written by Bob Yoder. He has also written a “citizen watch” column published in the Redmond Reporter (weekly newspaper).

  16. Richard… I just added his blog. He obviously follows the local political scene closely! (Note: I linked directly to his site as oppose to the spoofed address “redmondblog.org”.) Thanks for the tip!

  17. Hi–since there seems to be a need, I’m starting..key word here is STARTING a Sammamish blog.

sammamishmash.blogspot.com and soon it will be sammamishmash.com

    Thanks!

  18. Hi Troy,

It looks interesting! I don’t see an “about me” anywhere in the blog, are you the primary point person?

Typically the neighborhood blogs are more neighborhood focused, so your blog might be too general, although it’s a very fun read. It’s up to Dustin, but I will add it to my reading!

  19. yeah. i’m still tuning up the rest of the anxillary pages. like our help and about pages are kind of still ghetto. we’re waiting for a designer to help revamp the entire site’s look and feel.

  20. oh and i’m also one of the primary bloggers. we have a couple others that contribute and community “guest bloggers” that can make it to the main blog if the post is good enough.

but yeah i’m one of the primary bloggers

  21. yeah. that is part of our community contribution project. if our readers want to contribute, they can, but we moderate those posts, and only allow the best ones to reach the main blog.

we’re still trying to figure out if this is a good idea. only time will tell 😉

  22. J.See

Great idea! I look forward to seeing where you take that site. Feel free to return and remind us to check your site out again when you get some content up there!

  23. J.See: Those are definitely some massive blog posts you’re writing… You’ve got a great thing going and I can tell by the comments that you’re on to something fun.
