Thank you Rebecca! I look forward to reading more of Red Brick Blog and sharing it with everyone. I will have a Neighborhood Round-up on Friday, it' been a busy week for me.

Hi Sandy, yes, there is no place like the "Center of the Universe"! Wow, running up Fremont to Green Lake and around the lake...that is quite a run! I have walked around the lake, run...um not for me!

I used to live in Fremont. Gosh I miss it. The Sunday Market, great shops, interesting characters, and a lot of great places to grab a beer. Back when I lived there, you could still buy a craftsman-style fixer for under $275K. I thought that was high at the time and decided to hold off until the market came back down...it never did.

I used to run from Fremont up around Green Lake and Woodland Park. It was the only time in my life I've ever actually ENJOYED running. The only thing I can think is that the sights of the neighborhood offered enough distraction to make what is normally an unpleasant experience, one that is actually enjoyable. The particular summer I am thinking of, I think we went 90 days without rain--it literally did not rain all summer--and every day was a PERFECT 80-degree sunny day. It was fantastic.

Mukilteo is nice but it's not the center of the universe!

Welcome to RCG Deborah. Great post with losts of great sites. Thanks for the mention as well. As the summer gets going, this little Eastside urban neighborhood blog should start getting filled up with a lot more interesting content.

Cheers

Hi ARDELL,

No, I haven't been to that particular one (yet!) but here is a great link for it: http://www.fremontmarket.com/wallingford/ Here is the one for Walllingford Center (no address is on the site for the first link) : http://wallingfordcenter.com/index.html

The Wallingford Farmer's Market is open 3 to 7 PM now through Sept 26 this year.

Here is the link for all Farmer's Markets in Puget Sound: http://dnr.metrokc.gov/wlr/farms/farmers_markets.htm You can just put in what county, and what day of the week to get a list of Farmer's Markets...it's a great resource!

Have fun at the Kirkland Farmer's Market ARDELL!

Deborah,

Kirkland has a Wednesday Market this time of year and I noticed Wallingford has one on the same day. Do you know anything about Wallingford's Wednesday Market?

Thanks Karen!
You and your roommate should definitly check out the Fremont Sunday Flea Market...lots of interesting stuff there too. There are vendors selling one of a kind designed garments, imports, collectibles, retro furniture and other odd and marvelous things. And you can tell your friends back home in Chicago that you went to the "Center of the Universe"! Here's a post I did about a visit to Fremont earlier this year: http://activerain.com/blogsview/48359/Flea-Market-Fun-in
Have lots of fun exploring Seattle...I did, and still do!

Fabulous links Deborah! I am definitely dragging my roommate to Market St. in Ballard, sounds really neat and eclectic. Welcome! I look forward to your future posts! Being a new resident, I know any info on the neighborhoods will help me immensely! :)

'ard at work I see..."M" called for me, did she now? Sure as Bob's your uncle, I'll be mucking about in the service of God, Queen & Country in no time. Simply no rest for a double-O, you know. :)

BTW...I dare say a most splendid post! Very happy indeed to see your bright smiling face on RCG! Keep up the good work! :)
