Don’t forget, June 30 at 7 p.m.is Welcome Karen to Seattle Night at:
Roanoke Park Place Tavern
2409 10th Ave. E
Capitol Hill
Kim has some funny stories about when he lived nearby. Karen, Rhonda, Jillayne, Kim and I will be there. Not sure who all else. Post a comment if you know you are coming and we’ll keep an eye out for you. It’s not a big place. Not a fancy place. A neighborhood place. Just my kind of place. Seattle attire required…no fancy-shmansy garb
See you there.

Ardell, it would have been funny to have lined up all of our photo’s with Kim in the middle!! LOL
I am really looking forward to a GNO
Would Seattle attire be rubber boots??
Is Reba going?
I will be there!
I think Karen’s bringing her new roommate, too.
Maybe we could web cam you in, Kevin.
I don’t know about Reba, but Galen looked interested before he “launched”.
Sure cam me in! Sounds fun! SHOTS
You’re right Rhonda. It does look very “Charlie’s Angels”.
Make sure he tells the one about the lost popsicles. Or was it ice cream?
You will be there…no?
Wow, that’s awesome! Thanks for the welcome! I’ll be there, with my roomie! We’ll be fashionably late, lol! My movers finally came so I actually have my IMac (Internet, finally) up and roaring, thank God! Can’t wait to meet you all, should I wear one of my Nirvana shirts? J/K!
Yes, wear the Nirvana shirt.
I’ve never been to the Roanoke…do we have or need a reserved table?
Geez, wish I cud be there, but I am in Boise
Have fun!
Hey Karen, did you like the scenic drive on the way home?
After we went North over the University bridge, we came to 45th. If we would have turned right, we would have ended up in the University district which would have been hoppin’ on a Saturday night, but we went left. A few blocks later, we passed the Metro theater. They show great art-house flicks at the Metro that you can’t get at the neighborhood multi-plex theaters.

Then we crossed over the freeway heading west. At that point we were driving through Wallingford. Did you notice Dicks Drive-in on the left? Great for burgers, fries and shakes when you’re on the run. There are many good restaurants all throughout Wallingford.
After we got through Wallingford, we went up the hill and onto the northbound Highway 99 ramp. If we would have gone straight at that intersection, we would have ended up down in Ballard.
So we crossed over and went north on Hwy 99. At the bottom of the hill, if we would have went right, we would have ended up near Greenlake, but we went straight and then you turned west toward Greenwood and I headed north!
Thanks for meeting us! Sometimes I get so wrapped up with homework on the weekends that I don’t get out enough. That was fun.
Sorry I was the first to bail out! I peter out pretty early. It was a beautiful sunset on the way home and even better, was meeting Karen and seeing everyone again!
Did anyone else show up?
BTW, The Roanoke is a great neighborhood bar. I’m glad we met there!
The Roanoke is almost totally covered in ivy this time of year.
It was great meeting Karen and welcoming her to Seattle. It’s a cultural thing for me to make sure that young women we know understand that they “have people”. Someone to have their back, if needed. So Karen, we’re here for you, and you are not “A Stranger in a Strange Land” anymore. You are part of the RCG Family.
Glad you all had a good time – the Roanoke holds a special place in my heart. Should be a monthly thing it sounds like! I’ll come next time and instruct you in the fine art of beer pong…
I had a great time, thanks Ardell, Rhonda, Jillayne, Kim for the welcome and the great conversation! I love just lounging over drinks and chatting! I’m so glad I finally got to meet you in person
Roanoke was great place too!
So many people in SEA have made me feel welcome here, so I def. feel at home here, which is great.
Thanks Jillayne for taking me through the scenic/hopping route! Definitely a great way to go, I can’t wait to check out the U district on a weekend one of these days. I know what you mean about getting wrapped up in work, and not getting out enough. We have to do it this again sometime soon, for sure girls!
Kim, thanks again for picking up the tab! I certainly didn’t expect that. Not only was it fun conversation, the food was great too. I’ll be back.
