Hosting The Carnival of Real Estate
ARDELL on 07 19, 2007
There are so many blog post carnivals these days, that My Project Blogger Apprentice, Kevin Tomlinson, has asked several questions regarding what these carnivals are, and what is their purpose. Kevin, we are hosting “THE Carnival” this week, so it’s a good time to try to answer that question for you once and for all.
According to Zillow, “The Carnival” was the first ever Real Estate Carnival, though carnivals existed before that time, just not with real estate as the topic. “The goal here is to bring together the best real estate bloggers from around the country (and world) to share information about what we’re all passionate about: real estate. This is intended to be a forum for everyone to participate. Like a potluck, everyone brings something and may the best dishes be recognized each week. The Zillow Blog Team — well, actually one very tuned-in guy on the team — was pondering the existence of Blog Carnivals for everything from “street poetry” to cats, but there was not one for real estate. Obviously, we were amazed by this realization. No Carnival for real estate? This must be fixed! So, we at Zillow thought, “Why not create a Carnival of Real Estate?” And so, we did.
Toby Boyce of Sadie’s Take on Delaware Ohio, hosted the 50th Anniversary Carnival event last week. It was suggested to me way back when Jon of Property Monger hosted the carnival that I should take a shot at being the host. I agreed only to find that there was a SIX MONTH waiting list! WOW!
So the time has finally arrived, just when Sellsius is coming to town! I should be able to get the winners up Monday morning before I start making the food for Wednesday night’s meet Joe and Rudy of Sellsius party at my house.
Jon used this fabulous picture back in June to show how hosting the Carnival of Real Estate affected him.

I saved a photo way back then for Monday Morning’s Winner’s Post. Given all that’s going on, it looks even more appropriate today than it did then. You’ll have to wait for the Winner’s Post on Monday the 23rd for that one.

Thanks for the info. Now I know. I would love to be a part of the “Carnival” how do I submit?
Kev,
You submit through the Carnival website.
I would think I have a conflict of interest where you are concerned, given I’m your Coach, and that could be awkward for me.
I would prefer you wait until after July 23 to save me the grief. But you’re a big boy. You can do what you want. I think your winning would be more meaningful to both of us, if that happened during a week when I am not the host.
You can submit every week for the rest of your life AFTER 7/23. OK?
Ardell-
.
I’m certainly looking forward to what you come up with monday morning
Kevin-
