Kick off your sandals at Sandel Park…

Last night one of the volleyball teams I play on (Architect’s & Engineer’s League) played at Sandel Park in the Greenwood neighborhood.  While I’ve lived in the Phinney/Greenlake area for many of the 19 years I’ve been in Seattle I really hadn’t spent any time at this park even though it’s been in existence almost as long as me (since 1969).  Now that I have been there I will definitely suggest it to my volleyball playing friends as a great spot to set up a net. It’s got a good portion of the park area that is flat and the grass is in really good condition unlike areas of Greenlake that can get dried out in the summer and the ground is really hard packed because of the large number of people that use the park each year.  The link above will take you to the Park’s Department website which will also list other amenities such as a wading pool and basketball hoops.Prior work on the park and the Greenwood area via the City of Seattle Neighborhood Planning can be found at this link.
