I have no intention of turning this into…

a blog about southern California real estate, but I do have a non-fire related update from Southern California.

Brad Inman and I are going to be speaking at Beverly Hills REALTOR Association’s Head of High Office Tea this Thursday afternoon. From everything I can gather, it is going to be a pretty posh set-up at the Peninsula Hotel. The plan is for Brad to speak about the status of the industry for about an hour, myself to speak for about an hour and tea and conversation making up the last hour.

Tickets are $40 and just about sold out.

Also, I shouldn’t admit this, but I honestly have not given much thought about what I’m going to say just yet… Conveniently, back in August I did a presentation on using blogs to build up an online brand for the KW Mega Technology Camp that came off well (and took about 45 minutes including questions from others who were on stage). I think I’ll adjust that presentation a bit but go with that general outline. If anyone who was at that presentation wants to give me feedback, I’d love to hear it! 🙂

  1. I would say “consider the audience.”

I’m guessing that the people in the audience at this event might have different expectations or different needs than the KW agents (but I could be wrong. I don’t know what you’ve been told about your audience.)

Looks like there’s a theme to the event: “The Power of Our Industry.”

So show them what power means… to you, to the consumer, to a broker, to the typical Realtor that works in that community, to their biggest competitor… and so forth.

  2. Thanks to both of you! Brad and I are planning to chat tomorrow to coordinate and I’m hoping he’ll cover the big words like “Power” and “Industry” and leave me the little words like “the”, “of” and “our”…

I think I can stretch the idea of “our” (i.e. community) into at least a half hour! 🙂

  3. Dustin,

You were great…loved the water breaks. I was in the far back (your left) corner with one other lady at our table by the time you spoke. Both you and Brad were spot on the money. I sit with agents all the time and preach the same things you do….my head was noding. Nobody wants to put the work behind organically growing their online business. Most are scared of the technology (which couldn’t be simpler). Their fear is going to bump them right down the alley of mo noney. I feel bad for them all because soon they’re going to get caught like a lazy boy naping and not really sure what happened until it’s too late. GREAT JOB yesterday. Feel free to check out a community blog I’ve set up for the south bay at http://www.SouthBayMarketPlace.com. It’s not really set up for me persay, just an avenue for the lazy ones. Input is always appreciated.
