It is pretty darned good, Ardell. The weather is amazing, and you couldn’t ask for a more mild winter. Gorgeous photograph, Ardell, way to capture such natural beauty. I am reveling in this ‘winter’ – it’s sort of like a constant spring for me

In africa it’s the poverty and the crime that comes out of poverty that was the issue for us. The weather is as close to perfect as it can be where we were. The people are amazing, positive, happy, friendly curious, hospital and the don’t worry be happy no matter what attitude is additictive and good for the soul. We would never have left if it wasn’t for the security and freedom issues we predicted for our kids. Seattle is a good trade-off for our family now but we sure miss the african sun and spirit during the winter months.

I agree tj. I’m from PA where Spring was GLORIOUS after a cold and snowy Winter. But I felt like I only really lived a portion of each year. Too much hibernating. I lived in Florida, and the only “weather” I truly remember were the torrential downpours just when my girls were getting out of school and the Tornado that killed my roofer. You get immune to the sunshine. In CA it was all about the views, as I lived by the Ocean, but as someone mentioned earlier, the people were just too fake.

For all they say about Seattle and it’s weather…it’s pretty darned good around here.

Sunsets like this one reminds me of my expat years in Africa where the sun hits dust particles from the deserts at a certain angle and puts the whole sky on fire at sunset. If we now just had the warmth, scents and sounds of an African evening we would be perfect. Sigh, why most there always be so many trade-offs in life? Though, the long wait makes you appreciate the summer much more than if it’s always there.
