[...] I’m sure many folks who participate on ActiveRain face similar dilemmas. The Queen of RE blogging has given me her advice, but I figured more advice is better than less advice. Besides, I don’t have as much dirty laundry to air as she does. I guess I’ll just do what Madonna would’ve done. I’ll just get into a groove and post where it feels so good inside. Ooh baby… Yeah! [...]
[...] But it does need to be sincere. And it does need to be from the heart and written with passion … that is what I learned from my blogging catalyst, Ardell. [...]
[...] karim May 4, 2007 Permalink Trackbacks 0 Ardell DellaLoggia of the Rain City Guide pens one the best pieces I have seen regardinghousing valuations at a hyper-local level. Entitled Home Valuation “Tools”, Ardell goes on to detail how to properly value a property and how to seperate the value of the land versus the value of the house…an important consideration, often overlooked, in expensive markets where most of the value is actually land (I am talking to you San Francisco!). Her analysis is deep so get a pencil out but the basic takeaway is that if you can determine the cost of land, and make adjustments for slight differences, you should be able to determine which houses are overpriced and which ones are underpriced. Ardell finds a home that was torn down after being purchased and so was able to get a solid market value for land. Getting everything apples to apples is critical – and not easy. Her analysis is not only thorough, but also demonstrates that housing valuation is a highly complex problem that has variation from property to property. In other words, it is very difficult to model and so AVM’s will largely miss the nuances. Naturally we at My-Currency have built our site for this very reason – to enable the local experts to shine and to collect these nuances both in detail and as an aggregated value in our prediction technology we call CrowdValue. [...] If you’re interested in real estate blogging, Bloggers Connect in San Francisco will help you learn from some of the best and brightest in the biz. This is also your chance to put faces to many of the names you’ve been exposed to from the Carnival of Real Estate; Dustin Luther, Ardell DellaLoggia, Drew Meyers, Brian Brady and Teresa Boardman are just some of the bloggers who will be there. This is a great chance to meet face to face and network with some of the top real estate bloggers out there today. [...]
[...] Dustin Luther – That it worked! No kidding… While I’ll admit that I was persistent in trying to get RE Professionals to sign up as contributors right from the get-go, to get people like Ardell DellaLoggia and Russ Cofano after being in operation less than a year was a gift that has never stopped giving! [...]
[...] Well, yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting up with the legendary real estate blogger Ardell in Seattle. Myself and Ian Watt of Century 21 drove down to Seattle to meet up with Ardell and Rudy and Joe from Sellsius. The Sellsius guys are on the last leg of a cross country RV tour meeting with real estate bloggers and agents that started in New York. The plan is to finish in San Francisco in time for the Inman Connect Conference. [...]
[...] 6. Blogging: As much as industry blogs have exploded in the past two years, I think they’ve peaked. One can only read so many of these things and after a while the content seems a bit redundant. So do the comments, as interesting as they can be. So like anything else, there will be blogs – but better ones, and fewer. Sort of like car companies in the 20’s or tech companies in 2001. Plus I think participation in blogs is skewed – relatively few people reading and contributing 95% of the content. Ardell is famous, but only to a relatively small community of readers. [...]
