[photopress:sleepless_in_seattle.jpg,thumb,alignright]Just received this in my inbox and I’m clueless as to the answer.
I’ve searched through your site but I’m wondering if you have any advice on buying a houseboat in Seattle.
I’m looking to spend up to $220K plus moorage, but I know very little about how I finance these. I hear it’s complicated and requires a larger down payment.
Any advice?
Any Rain City Guide contributors and/or readers with Houseboat experience?
Dustin,
Here is the man. Featured on HGTV House Hunters and concentrates on houseboats of all things. I know this as I watch House Hunters all the time with the wife.

Don’t know if this would help, but I know someone who has a $200,000 motor yacht suitable for live-aboard (45 feet) who wants to trade it for a nice parcel of land. They are an elderly couple and can’t live on the boat now due to unexpected health problems. The boat is currently moored in Port Orchard Washington. Please contact me if you’re interested!
Jeff and Leslie,
Thanks for the info… The guy who asked the question is likely checking this message thread (I sent him the link), so don’t be surprised if he follows up!

I know this guy does house boat lending. He’s been in the business a long time and knows his stuff. Good luck!

Yeah, the question is about the lending, not so much on needing an agent or finding the properties. They are listed in MLS like everything else.
We are now offering 30 year fixed mortgages on floating homes on Lake Union and Portage Bay. Feel free to contact if interested.
You didn’t list any contact info, but i can be reached at bodayguy@yahoo.com.
sorry, I was unsure if I was inappropriate by offering my service. In any event I can be reached at Mortgageman@gmail.com
Chris,
Since this article was particularly pointed at someone tryig to finance a houseboat, I would think your posting your contact infor would be appropriate.
Thank you for responding to the reader comment.

Rich,
Did you receive my email? Never heard back so I thought I would doublecheck as I don’t want to appear nonresponsive. Thx
