Marketing Messages

A message different than any I’ve seen.

We see real estate ads everywhere: The huge Realtor or Real Estate Office centric billboards, shopping carts, sitting benches at bus stops or supermarkets, radio ads, at malls, various print media, internet, etc.

And then this. Is the message effective?

  1. I don’t know if it would get me. I mean, if I could fold all of my money over and put it in my pocket and it would double, I’d be content with leaving it there. Well, maybe I’d take it out and try to fold it in half again 😉

  2. Actually, it is probably not clear enough with current trends in the Seattle area. I thought folks may be interested in some technical analysis of real estate trend in a series of blogs.

Using Seattle/King Country for sample data. In terms of seattle, the next 3-4 months should have prices unchanged (or declining) from the prices seen a year prior (same month). There is a probability of a significant decline over the next 6 months.

So you may not only not double your money, but may be donating to the seller.

  3. Enten,

I LOVE your stats, but is there any way for us to break them down better geographically? Clearly part of King County is going “the way of the nation” generally, and other parts are not. One section is still going up in value at a fast pace while another is going down. One going up at 8% and the other going down 10% causes the stats on a County wide basis to come up with the conclusion of down 2%. But if a homeowner in the up 10% neighborhood listens to that and prices their home at -2% as a result…your math becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Clearly a rambler built in 1962 in original condition priced at $550,000 is not enjoying the same rate of return as a newer townhome built in 2003.

The inside scoop is this…sellers are causing their properties to sell for less by being too arrogant at time of inspection. Too many “take it or leave it” inspection negotiations causing deals to fall apart. It’s time for sellers to understand that the offer in escrow is GOLDEN and should not be toyed with…

  4. 1) For a paralegal, it would have been nice if proper credit was given for the quote. (Kin Hubbard)

    2) And how does a paralegal, an LPO and a Realtor tease apart the different legal and ethical duties when acting as a real estate agent? I think the sign sends a message to the reader that if hired, she could wear all three hats during a transaction.

    3) From the broker’s website and from her website, I cannot tell if they are a member of the Assoc of Realtors, but her sign says she’s a Realtor.

    4) The chosen quote seems to convey the message to put your money into a savings account and not invest in real estate. This is a great message to connect with clients who are of an age to remember living through the Great Depression. Not sure if the message would resonnate with anyone younger than 40.

    How about
