List of the Most innovative Search Sites

Dustin on 11 12, 2005

Innovative Real Estate TechnologiesThere are so many interesting real estate search sites that are pop up every day, and in the process of trying to cover all of them in a blog format, I think things have gotten a little too scattered. So I took a little time this evening and put all of the sites that I’m aware of on one page along with a few notes about them. Check it out at:

At this point, I’ve broken all of the sites into four categories:

  • National Sites: major MLS and FSBO sites
  • Regional Sites: smaller data sets that are yet to go national
  • Specialty Sites: sold data, property information, etc.
  • Vaporware: still waiting for a product…

This beauty of making this list on a webpage instead of a blog post is that it will be much more fluid. I always feel awkward about updating a blog entry after I’ve posted it, but I’ll feel no qualms about updating this list on a regular basis. Along those lines, if you know of an innovative real estate tool that I’ve missed, please let me know!

  5. Brian,

Of course… As long as you’re not taking things word-for-word and you provide a link to your source (in this case: me!). Even better, improve upon the list by making it more relevant to the people of Tracy! Best.

  6. Hello Dustin,

My name is Joseph Mansigian. I am the software author of the real estate search tool described below.
It is named Search By Design. It is not vaporware in the sense that it is complete code that runs without problems.
However its current deployment is on a small but realistic test data base.
This tool is not like anything you have seen before in real estate search engines. It indexes a house on room type and layout. The intent was to go far beyond “beds and bathrooms” criteria to extend to the searcher a way to build a model of their dream house with easy drag and drop icons and then have the search engine find the house. That intent has been realized in this first implementation of Search By Design.

Also, to combine its innovative paradigm with traditional search criteria this engine was designed from its inception to run in series with other filters that could select on style, living space, location, etc., producing a final selection that reflects all criteria.

I would be very interested in and most appreciative of your views on this technology.
