[photopress:richard_alice_on_bike.jpg,thumb,alignright]I just received an email from Chuck Ayers of the Cascade Bicycle Club announcing a Burke Gilman Trail Open House at the Ballard Library:

We have just been informed about a Burke Gilman Trail Open House/“Update” Meeting happening on Thursday, March 9th hosted by the Seattle Department of Transportation. While the meeting will not cover the most controversial portions of the trail, it is imperative that proponents of completing the trail continue to show support. If you can make the open house, even a portion of it, please do so – our advocacy efforts make all the difference in the world when it comes to supporting cycling in our community.

From the City’s site:

Open House:
Please join us to learn about improvements planned for the Burke-Gilman Trail at the intersection of Seaview Ave NW and Seaview Place NW.

Thursday, March 9, 2006
6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Ballard Public Library (free parking under building, enter from NW 56th St )
5614 22nd Ave. N.W.
Seattle, WA 98107

The build-out of the Burke Gilman Trail has been anticipated for quite a while in North Seattle and fills in a few gaps so that there is a continuous waterfront trail for riders of many different skill levels. If you’re interested in learning more about this trail (and showing support for the program) consider attending the open house.
