  1. Thanks Dustin and Jim. I was too busy writing my granite article to notice. Looks like Alison thought “Dustin” was my “husband” in that hyperlink part…son maybe 🙂

I did spend some time yesterday beefing up my front page to include “moving objects” in preparation for the article coming out today. Something I’ve been meaning to implement since first seeing it on Grow A Brain.

  2. Isn’t it funny how seemingly random acts turn into unexpected happenings. John asked me to test his blog product and somehow, not sure how, Dustin saw my blog about 14 days later.

Contrary to the article in Inman, it was actually THREE DAYS after that, not a few weeks, when I “acquired” my first client from blogging that turned into a signed around contract within 4 days of that first call.

There’s a Podcast coming out interviewing said client.

  4. From the Inman piece on Ardell:

“She started blogging at searchingseattleblog.com on January first —
this year — and within two weeks was invited to join Rain City Guide
, a Seattle-based real estate blog that is one of the country’s most
popular. {new graf} With five days she had picked up a client based on her blog; four months later, her blog has generated four
    transactions.”

Is that not right? Let me know and I will fix it. But contact me
directly, since I don’t always get a chance to read Internet comments
    on my pieces.

  5. Hi Alison,

The main error in the piece was the mention of “my husband”, since I don’t have one of those these days 🙂

Generally the article was very correct and my notes indicate 1/1/2006 Searching Seattle Blog, 1/14/06 Rain City Guide and 1/17/06 first contact from buyer who made offer on 1/20 that was accepted 1/21. 3 closed to date and the fourth closing 5/17.

  6. Congratulations on your blogging success!

I’ve said it a thousand times, and I’ll say it again to all Realtors out there – you need to be blogging and you need to be visible. A static web site that just sits there is going to get you eaten alive by the savvy, internet focused Realtors who understand how goods and services are sold and marketed in the 21st century.

  8. Thank you, David. I spent some time re-organizing the categories of my blog this weekend. I think it is important to read other real estate blogs so you can constantly improve and upgrade your blog.

I added lots of photos to some of my original posts, because I love the GrowABrain look. I added categories by month, so people can pull up the original January posts without scrolling back through pages. I saw that on another blog and liked it, so added it to mine.

I have to learn how to hyperlink. There’s a BlogMeetUp group I joined but haven’t attended yet. Perhaps that is a good place to learn some of the things I haven’t acquired yet. For instance, in the first paragraph of this comment where it says “my blog”, that should be a hyperlink. But I don’t know how to do that or how to hyperlink posts from other blogs in my posts.

    Always something new to learn.
