To Promote or Not to Promote…

When I posted an ad for our listing masking as an advice column yesterday, I got more than a few emails from people who apparently weren’t very happy that I was linking to Redfin.

I had a reason to link to the detail page on Redfin as oppose to our own. A little birdie whispered to me that the “most viewed” home on their site for Thursday would not only be featured in emails and on their blog on Friday, but that home would also be eligible to host the first “Redfin Showing” on Saturday. I’m a sucker for extra publicity for my home and was happy to cooperate! So if you’re in the neighborhood, feel free to stop by our home between 2pm and 3pm on Saturday!

To the agents out there who are upset that I’m giving Redfin digital ink… Please feel free to suggest interesting ways to market my home as I’ve always been an equal opportunity promoter! πŸ™‚

  1. No worries Dustin. Don’t sweat it. I received e-mails from agents regarding threatening to pull or blackball our business due to our inclusion of a Zillow link on our website. Sold data online debate…I chuckled to myself when their very own company eventually put sold data on their website. Like a link on our website or any other is going to influence another agent’s own personal business pipeline. Absurd.

All the best to you and Anna on the sale. Do it any way you want.

  3. Dustin,,,

I think it was a very smart move. Rain City is on the forefront of where the real estate industry can and will go, and those that are not prepared to move with them or around them are scared.

Keep up the good work and pushing the boundaries.

  5. Not to worry Dustin. To worry about linking to Redfin is to say that they don’t have the same right to their business model that the rest of us have. No big deal.

Good luck with your sale. Randy says the house is really darling and a great buy and I agree. Anyone would be lucky to have it, but last weekend was slow in the real estate world. Too many graduations and Father’s Day. This should be a great listing. I got a good call on the listing I put on the market the same day Anna and I uploaded your house pics. We’ve got you as a featured property on our number1seattlehomesite.com is anyone wants to see 50 pictures of your home instead of the 15 allowed my the mls. Good Luck.

You probably noticed I did a pretty shameless ad on my LTD Real Estate looking for excellent agents who need leads. I feel pretty good about it, too!

  6. By all means promote. This country’s economic success is built upon promotion in all its varied forms. Hope you sell soon & it would be great if you sold it through an unconventional (non MLS) manner. It would point out that NAR/MLS are not the only ones allowed to play with the real estate ball.

PS: May your listing broker enjoy a whole pie πŸ™‚
