three “t’s” on the sidepanel and was surprised just how much traffic it brought. Because I was more concerned with being professional than traffic, I fixed the type, but Mary just reminded me of the effectiveness of the error, so I thought I’d try it out again! π
And if you are looking for Seattle real estate information, dont’ be discouraged if you landed on this page! π We’ve got tons of great stuff on this site!
To highlight just a few: Ardell gives local condition stats ever Sunday, Rhonda provides mortgage rate updates every Friday, and I wrote a post about moving to Seatttle a while back that is loaded with questions, answers, insights, dangers, etc. from people. (There are almost 500 comments to date!)…
That is pretty funny Dustin – I have done the same thing and also was surprised at how effective it was, although I am still trying to go back now and correct some of those:) I love RCG, though! Keep up the great work – despite other claims, this actually is the best local real estate blog in my opinon because of all the great contributors!!!!
I have no misspells on my site, but a lot of them on my blog. Cotsa Rica, Costa Riac etc.
Would like to know what the percentage of searches performed include a misspell somewhere.
I was pretty embarrassed to learn I spelled principal wrong…it was actually from a post that SB borrowed (with my blessing). One of the readers ripped me for it…hey I’m good at math–not spelling! π When I googled “principle and interest”…I was tops. I corrected “principle” where it appeared in my personal blog and I believe I just lined it out here at RCG, where the post that SB borrowed originated from.
I always thought principal was your “pal” (like the principal of your school)…I’ve got it straight now!
Hope I don’t have any typo’s in this comment! π
Just noticed we made page 1 of Google for the term [seatttle] in less than 24 hours! π
… but fascinatingly, Google treats [seatttle real estate] identical to [seattle real estate]. Those google guys are too smart!
Now spelling typos are being recommmended to improve your SEO ratings.
Dustin,
Very funny. Such an easy tactic to implement and in many cases, oddly effective! I generally recommend the use of a typo where visitors won’t be as inclined to see it as I don’t want to make anyone look like they lost their third grade spelling bee. The best place is in the post slug- or if you have self healing urls- put it in the post title then go back and correct it later. Thanks for the mention,
Mary
